ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH
is a market town of some 16,000 inhabitants situated in the very heart of England in the county of Leicester with Burton-on-Trent to the west, Derby to the north, Nottingham to the north-east, Leicester to the south-east and Birmingham and Coventry to the south.

PITHIVIERS lies in the centre of the département of the Loiret some 60 miles south of Paris and 30 miles north-east of Orléans. It is quite similar to Ashby as a market town with important local industries, such as sugar and pharmaceuticals and this, of course, is why the two towns selected each other for twinning. It has a largely autonomous municipal authority and is the seat of a deputy-prefect.

IN 2010 WE CELEBRATED THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TWINNING IN ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH AND IN 2011 WE CELEBRATED IT IN PITHIVIERS.

We welcome new members and invite those visitors to our site who have not yet joined us to look through these pages to get a flavour of the varied and interesting activities of our association and, indeed, to join us.

DATA PROTECTION

Legislation is now in force to protect further aspects of your personal data. This could involve the use of photographs taken of you in the normal course of our recording and reporting Association events, which are then published in our regular newsletters, on the Twinning website or for other publicity purposes. Most members, of course, have no objection to such random use of photographic material but if you do have an objection we ask you to communicate this to the photographer or, in writing, to a member of the Executive committee, who will then report the request to the full committee and thereafter every effort will be made to comply.

STATEMENTS and POLICIES

In accordance with modern practice and legal requirements we have adopted a range of statements and policies covering the area of Data Protection, Health and Safety, Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults and Equality and Diversity. These may be viewed by clicking on the Charter and Constitution tab on the left and viewing "Byelaws" or in hard copy from the Secretary.
